“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.” ~Winnie the Pooh.
Bet this quote made you think of THE one person who means the world to you. I know I certainly did. I even got a bit misty. This quote really touches my heart. It makes me think about my life partner, my dear husband, Steve. We have shared 15 years of our lives together. That's nearly half of our lives!
I remember the first day I ever laid eyes on him. It was a wintry March afternoon at work. It was his first day. As he was coming up the stairs, I was coming down the stairs. "Oh, Hi....." I shyly said to him, barely looking out of my glasses. To which he hesitantly said a quick hello and proceeded up the stairs. My best friend, Marie, was with me & I announced to her, rather matter-of-factly, "That is the man I am going to marry." Much to Marie's dismay, she asked, "Bobbie -Ann, what about your rule of not dating co-workers?"
Well, to make a long, sweet story short, we were married a little over a year after that cold winter day in March. We actually got married exactly one year after our first date. Like many married couples, we have gone through many trials and tribulations throughout the years. Our wedding vows were surely put to the test! Boy, there were times I thought we wouldn't pass those tests...
We have gone through many highs and lows of life that brought about many changes. We became parents to a beautiful little girl, we've changed jobs, lost jobs, faced financial challenges, quit smoking, had to make difficult decisions together, and went through some uncertain, scary, devastating, life-altering times.
The only thing that hasn't changed is my loyalty and love for him. If anything, it has grown more than I thought possible. There were times when it wasn't easy for me or for him, for that matter. Yet, through it ALL, the joy and the pain, he has been the one constant person by my side. He has said that he adores me...ahhh...still takes my breath away... Sometimes I find it hard to believe that he loves me just the way I am - flaws and all... I am so proud of how much we have grown as individuals and as a couple. He is just the most adoring father to our daughter, too! It's sweet to see them together...it really warms my heart.
So today's quote, from the sweetest, the one & only, Winnie the Pooh, is dedicated with love and gratitude to my true soulmate, Steve. Thank you for loving & accepting me no matter what.
I love you. xoxo.
